He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of C Sqn.  He also represented the college in Soccer and Boxing.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He retired on 15 Dec 1949 in the rank of Gp Capt.

 

Richard James Millett BANGAY (33215) DFC

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of B Sqn.  He also represented the college in Fencing and Rowing.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He died in service on 23 Mar 1950 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

Oswald James Milman BARRON (33217) DFC and Bar

He entered the RAF College in 1934 and was a member of A Sqn.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He was reported missing in action on 11 Apr 1944 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was serving with No 576 Sqn, which but the exact circumstances have not yet been ascertained.  He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

Alfred Mulock BENTLEY (33220) OBE, AFC

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of A Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Under Officer.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He retired on 9 May 1949 in the rank of Gp Capt.

 

George BURGES (33225) OBE, DFC,

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of B Sqn.  He also represented the college in Fencing.  On graduating he was awarded the John Anthony Chance Memorial Prize.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He retired on 29 Apr 1959 in the rank of Gp Capt.

He was a graduate of the RAF Staff College.

Paul Burton CHAMBERLAIN (33229)

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of B Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Under Officer.  He also represented the college in Rugby, Boxing and Cricket.  On graduating he was awarded the Sword of Honour.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He was killed in action on 21 Oct 1941 in the rank of Sqn Ldr.

He was killed whilst flying in Wellington IC, X9981 of No 75 Sqn, which came down in Belgium during a raid to Nuremburg.  He is buried in Dinant (Citadelle) Military Cemetery.

Edward CULVERWELL (33235)

He entered the RAF College in 1934 and was a member of B Sqn.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He was killed in action on 13 Jun 1941 in the rank of Sqn Ldr.

He was killed whilst flying in Beaufort I, W6521 OA-R of No 22 Sqn, which failed to return from an anti shipping sortie off Stavanger.  He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

Victor Charles DARLING (33236) OBE

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of B Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Sgt.  He also represented the college in Hockey.  On graduating he was awarded the Humanistics Prize.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He retired on 7 Apr 1959 in the rank of Gp Capt.

He was a graduate of the Joint Services Staff College and the RAF Staff College.

Jack Rowland FISHWICK (33246)

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of C Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Sgt, after being awarded a scholarship as an apprentice at Halton.  He also represented the college in Soccer, Athletics and Swimming.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He was killed in action on 15 Jan 1941 in the rank of Flt Lt.

He was killed whilst flying in Beaufort I, W6489 OA-W of No 22 Sqn, which lost on a 'gardening' operation to the Weser Estuary.  He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

John Wingfield FORDHAM (33247)

He entered the RAF College in 1934 and was a member of C Sqn.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He died in service on 5 Mar 1941 in the rank of Flt Lt.

He died from injuries, probably sustained whilst flying Hurricane I, P3580 of No 247 Sqn, which spun into the ground on a night approach to Roborough on 3 Mar 1941.  He is buried in Brookwood Military Cemetery.

Reginald Patrick Mahoney GIBBS (33250) DSO, DFC and Bar

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of B Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Cpl.  He also represented the college in Rugby, Squash and Tennis.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He retired on 24 Feb 1944 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

Oliver GODFREY (33251) DFC

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of C Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Sgt.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He was killed in action on 23 Jun 1942 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was killed whilst flying in Wellington IC, DV818 of No 103 Sqn, which was lost in the North Sea off the Dutch coast on a raid to Emden.  He is buried in Wierhuizen Protestant Cemetery, de Marne.

Hubert Reginald GOODMAN (33252) AFC

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of B Sqn.  He also represented the college in Rugby, Boxing and Cricket.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He was reported missing in action on 12 May 1944 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was killed whilst flying in Lancaster III, ND700 PM-X of No 103 Sqn, which was hit by fire from a night fighter and exploded near Hallaar in Belgium during a raid on railway targets at Hasselt.  He is buried in Schoonselhof Cemetery.

Denys GREVILLE BELL ()

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of C Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Under Officer.  He also represented the college in Boxing.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He was killed in a flying accident on 28 Apr 1939 in the rank of Fg Off.

He was killed whilst flying Lysander I, L4762 of No 13 Sqn from RAF Odiham when it crashed on take off from the airfield at Denham.

James Heathcote HUMPHRIS (33258)

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of A Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Cpl.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He was reported missing in action on 8 Jan 1945 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was killed whilst flying in Anson I, MG552 of No 276 Sqn, which was shot down by flak at Dunkirk during a flight from B-83 (Knoke-le-Zout) to the UK.  He is buried in Dunkirk Town Cemetery

William Hubert INGLE (33259) AFC

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of B Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Cpl.  He also represented the college in Fencing.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He retired on 4 Sep 1959 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was a graduate of the RAF Staff College.

William Innes Cosmo INNESS (33260) CB, OBE

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of B Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Cpl.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He retired on 22 Oct 1968 in the rank of A/Cdre.

He was a graduate of the RAF Staff College and the RAF Flying College.

Peter Slade JOLLIFFE (33263)

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of C Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Cpl.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He was killed in action on 24 Jun 1940 in the rank of Flt Lt.

He was killed whilst flying Blenheim IV, L9409 of No 254 Sqn, which was shot down by the ship they were attacking.  He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

Douglas Andrew KERR (33264) DSO

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of A Sqn.  On graduating he was awarded the King's Meda and the Abdy Gerrard Fellows Memorial Prize.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He was reported missing in action on 22 Jun 1942 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was killed whilst flying in Wellington IC, ES990 'S' of No 148 Sqn, which exploded after being hit by flak on a raid to Gazala landing ground.  He is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial.

Alan Meyrick Kerr PHILLIPS (33275)

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of C Sqn.  He also represented the college in Shooting and Cross Country.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He retired on 21 Oct 1971 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was a graduate of the RAF Staff College.

Robin Peter Reginald POWELL (33278) DFC and Bar

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of A Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Sgt.  He also represented the college in Shooting, Hockey and Cricket.  On graduating he was awarded the R M Groves Memorial Prize.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He retired due to being unfit for Air Force service on 6 Nov 1963 in the rank of Gp Capt.

He died on xx xxx 1970. 

William Peter SHAND (33285)

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of A Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Cpl.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He was reported missing in action on 20 Apr 1943 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was killed whilst flying in Mosquito IV, DZ386 XD-H of No 139 Sqn, which was shot down into the Ijsselmeer by a night fighter on a raid to Berlin.  He is buried in Wonseradeel (Makkum) Protestant Churchyard.

Christopher Dermot Salmond SMITH (33287) DFC

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of C Sqn.  He also represented the college in Soccer.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He was killed in action on 22 Dec 1941 in the rank of Sqn Ldr.

He was killed whilst flying in Hurricane IIB, Z5255 of No 79 Sqn, which collided with a He 115 off Southern Ireland.  He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

Michael Gavin STEVENSON (33290)

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of B Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Sgt.  He also represented the college in Rugby, Swimming and Athletics.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He was killed on active service on 29 Nov 1942 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was serving with No 173 Sqn and possibly died from injuries sustained on 27 Nov 1942 when Lysander II, P9051 overturned after hitting a shelter on take-off.  He is buried in Heliopolis War Cemetery.

James Brian TAIT (33291) DSO and 3 Bars, DFC and Bar, ADC

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of B Sqn.  He also represented the college in Fencing.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He retired on 9 Dec 1966 in the rank of Gp Capt.

He was commissioned on 1 Aug 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 15 Sep 1936.  He retired on 1 Nov 1963 in the rank of A/Cdre.

He was a graduate of the Imperial Defence College, the Joint Services Staff College and the RAF Staff College.

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of A Sqn.  He also represented the college in Fencing.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He retired on 14 Feb 1959 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was a graduate of the RAF Staff College.

Anthony Alexander Talbot BULLOCH (33224)

He entered the RAF College in 1934, was a member of A Sqn.  He also represented the college in Athletics and Cross-Country.

He was commissioned on 21 Apr 1937 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 4 May 1937.  He was killed in action on 24 Apr 1940 in the rank of Fg Off.

He was killed whilst flying Hudson I, N7283 QX-S of No 224 Sqn, which was shot down by fighters of Haakonsshellen, Norway.  He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

Kenneth AULT (33214)

He entered the RAF College in 1935 and was a member of B Sqn.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He was reported missing in action on 9 Apr 1942 in the rank of Sqn Ldr.

He was killed whilst flying in Blenheim IV, V5992 of No 11 Sqn, which was shot down by fighters whilst attacking the Japanese naval force heading to Ceylon.  He is commemorated on the Singapore Memorial.

Bertram BARTHOLD (33218) OBE

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of C Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Cpl.  He also represented the college in Fencing.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He retired on 19 Feb 1967 in the rank of Gp Capt.

He was a graduate of the RAF Staff College.

David Edmund BENNETT (33219)

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of B Sqn.  He also represented the college in Athletics and Cross-Country.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He retired on 19 Apr 1957 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

 

Patrick Edgar Sempill Fairfax Monteagle BROWNE (33222)

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He was killed in action on 29 May 1940 in the rank of Flt Lt.

He was killed whilst flying in Hurricane I, P2636 of No 229 Sqn, which was shot down by a Bf 109.  He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

Harry Emlyn BUFTON (33223) DSO, OBE, DFC, AFC

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of A Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Under Officer.  He also represented the college in Swimming, Athletics and Rugby.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He retired on 22 Mar 1961 in the rank of Gp Capt.

He was a graduate of the Joint Services Staff College and the RAF Staff College.

Howard Frizelle BURTON (33227) DSO, DFC and Bar

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of B Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Under Officer.  He also represented the college in Soccer, Rugby and Squash.  On graduating he was awarded the Sword of Honour.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He was killed in action on 3 Jun 1943 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was killed whilst flying in Hudson VI, FK386 of No 1 OADU, which was shot down by a fighter over the Bay of Biscay on a transit flight from Portreath to Gibraltar.  He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

Leslie Frank COOPER (33231)

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of A Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Sgt, after being awarded a scholarship as an apprentice at Halton.  He also represented the college in Boxing and Soccer.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He was killed in action on 24 Oct 1943 in the rank of Sqn Ldr.

He was killed whilst flying in Liberator V, FL954 of No 86 Sqn, which crashed into Lough Foyle shortly after taking-off from Ballykelly for a convoy escort.  He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

Stafford Pulleine COULSON (33232) DSO, DFC

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of A Sqn.  He also represented the college in Soccer.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He retired on 30 Sep 1965 in the rank of Gp Capt.

He was a graduate of the Joint Services Staff College and the RAF Flying College.

Robert Sidney James EDWARDS (33242) DFC, BSc

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He retired on 12 Feb 1963 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

 

Ivor Jack FAWDRY ()

He entered the RAF College in 1935 and was a member of B Sqn.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He was killed in a flying accident on 10 May 1938 in the rank of Plt Off.

He was killed in a flying accident whilst flying an aircraft (Magister, L5948?) of No 139 Sqn near Godmanchester, Huntingdonshire.  His crewman, Plt Off C J C Lee was also killed.

Douglas Anthony FFRENCH-MULLEN (33245)

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of B Sqn.  He also represented the college in Hockey.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He resigned his permanent commission on 8 Apr 1946 in the rank of Flt Lt.

 

Joffre Gordon FRASER (33249)

He entered the RAF College in 1935 and was a member of B Sqn, after being awarded a scholarship as an apprentice at Halton.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He retired on 13 May 1947 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

 

Ned Charles HARDING (33255) DFC

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of A Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Cpl.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He retired on 28 Aug 1958 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was a graduate of the RAF Staff College.

Wilfred Arthur HARRIS (33256)

He entered the RAF College in 1935 and was a member of B Sqn.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He was killed in action on 7 Dec 1940 in the rank of Flt Lt.

He was killed whilst flying in Wellington IC, R3209 of No 214 Sqn, which was lost on a raid to Dusseldorf.  He is buried in Oye-Plage Communal Cemetery.

Ashley Duke JACKSON (33261)

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of C Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Sgt.  He also represented the college in Athletics.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He was reported missing in action on 6 Jan 1944 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was killed whilst flying in Lancaster I, ED586 EM-F of No 207 Sqn, which came down in the target area during a raid to Stettin.  He is buried in Poznan Old Garrison Cemetery.

Leonard William LOWDEN ()

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of B Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Cpl.  He also represented the college in Rowing.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He was killed in a flying accident on 11 Sep 1937 in the rank of Plt Off.

He was killed whilst flying Anson, K8778 of No 233 Sqn when it flew into a hill near Guisborough in poor visibility.

Roderick Hugh MCCONNELL (33268) DSO, DFC

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of A Sqn.  He also represented the college in Athletics and Rugby.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He was killed in a flying accident on 16 Mar 1950 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was killed whilst flying in Vampire FB Mk 5, VV680 of the RAF Flying College, which struck the sea off Mablethorpe as it recovered from a dive.  

Stewart William Blacker MENAUL (33272) CB, CBE, DFC, AFC

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of C Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Sgt.  He also represented the college in Athletics and Rugby.  On graduating he was awarded the Hyde Thompson Memorial Prize.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He retired on 29 Apr 1968 in the rank of AVM.

He was a graduate of the Imperial Defence College and the RAF Staff College.

Cecil Dunn MILNE (33273) OBE, DFC

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of B Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Sgt.  He also represented the college in Swimming and Fencing.  On graduating he was awarded the King's Medal and the John Anthony Chance Memorial Prize.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He retired on 30 Nov 1956 in the rank of Gp Capt.

Maxwell Charles PEARSON (33274)

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of A Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Cpl.  He also represented the college in Rowing.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He was killed in action on 27 May 1940 in the rank of Flt Lt.

He was killed whilst flying in Spitfire I, N3030 of No 54 Sqn, which was last seen giving chase to a Ju 88.  He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

George ffolliott POWELL-SHEDDEN (33277) DSO, DFC

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of C Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Under Officer.  He also represented the college in Boxing, Rugby, Squash andSwimming.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He retired on 20 Mar 1961 in the rank of Gp Capt.

He was a graduate of the RAF Staff College.

Guy Percy ROBINSON (33282)

He entered the RAF College in 1935 and was a member of C Sqn.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He was killed on active service on 4 Sep 1939 in the rank of Fg Off.

He was killed when Hudson I, N7239 of No 233 Sqn stalled after take off from Leuchars and crashed into the River Eden.  He is buried in Duddon (St Peter) Churchyard.

Ian Terence Byathan Thomas ROWLAND (33284)

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of A Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Sgt.  He also represented the college in Athletics.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He was reported missing in action on 26 Jan 1942 in the rank of Sqn Ldr.

He was killed whilst flying in Vildebeest III, K6379 of No 100 Sqn, which was shot down by flak whilst attacking invasion shipping at Endau.  He is commemorated on the Singapore Memorial.

Ian Scovil SODEN (33289) DSO

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of B Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Sgt.  He also represented the college in Tennis and Rugby.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He was killed in action on 18 May 1940 in the rank of Flt Lt.

He was killed whilst flying in Hurricane I, N2437 of No 56 Sqn, which was shot down near Vitry by a Bf 110.  He is buried in Biache-St Vaast Communal Cemetery.

Arthur Richard VAUGHAN WILLIAMS (33293)

He entered the RAF College in 1935 and was a member of B Sqn.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He was killed in action on 18 Dec 1939 in the rank of Fg Off.

He was killed whilst flying in Wellington IA, N2904 of No 37 Sqn, which crashed in the sea near Wilhelmshaven and is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

Donald WESTON BURT (33226) DSO

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of C Sqn.  He also represented the college in Athletics.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He retired on 10 Oct 1957 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

 

Louis Douglas WILSON (33295) DSO, DFC, AFC

He entered the RAF College in 1935, was a member of C Sqn and attained the rank of Flt Cdt Cpl.  He also represented the college in Cricket, Squash and Hockey.  On graduating he was awarded the R M Groves Memorial Prize.

He was commissioned on 19 Dec 1936 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 26 Jan 1937.  He retired on 30 Mar 1959 in the rank of Wg Cdr.

He was a graduate of the RAF Flying College.

Malcolm Patrick Alexander CRAIG MOONEY ()

He entered the RAF College in 1935 and was a member of A Sqn.

He was commissioned on 8 Apr 1937 in the rank of Pilot Officer which was gazetted on 4 May 1937.  He was killed in a flying accident on 23 Sep 1937 in the rank of Plt Off.

He was killed whilst flying Hawker Hind, K5494 of No 57 Sqn when he got lost on a navigation exercise, ran out of fuel and hit a tree during his attempted forced landing.  His crewman AC2 Peter McGeehan, was uninjured.
