15 Aug 1938 Formed as No 1 Civil Air Navigation School
 1 Nov 1939 No 1 CANS was redesignated No 1 Air Observer Navigation School, under the control of No 51 Group
14 Dec 1940 Course 'F' 4 posted as follows: -
  •  2 to No 5 BGS
  • 16 to No 9 BGS
  • 10 to No 10 BGS
15 Dec 1940 58 x u/t Observers arrived from No 1 Receiving Wing for 'F' 5 Course, plus one from 'A' 5 and one from 'B' 4 courses
16 Dec 1940 Course 'F' 5 commenced training under new syllabus
21 Dec 1940 Course 'B' 4 posted as follows, wef 28 Dec 1940: -
  • 20 to No 4 BGS
  •  5 to No 5 BGS
  •  4 to No 9 BGS
  • 25 to No 10 BGS
21 Dec 1940 Course 'B' 5 arrived  comprising 50 from No 1 RW and 10 from No 6 ITW
