HQ No 225 Group Personnel, locations and units

[Jul 1942 | Dec 1943 | Jun 1944 | Jun 1945 | Jul 1945 | Aug 1945 | Sep 1945]

This was formed at Palembang, Sumatra on 17 January 1942 as No 225 (Bomber) Group from No 223 Group.  On 14 February it moved to P.2 (Parabumulih) but following the Japanese victory ceased to exist and was officially disbanded at Mingaladon on 28 March 1942

However the nucleus of a new group had begun to assemble at Padgate and West Kirby on 3 February 1942, departing from Liverpool on 12 February.  Arriving in Bombay on 12 April, an Advance Party moved to Bangalore on 14 April, and after five days was able to set up a base at Bangalore Racecourse, where the unit officially reformed as No 225 (Composite) Group on 20 April.  The remainder of the personnel arrived on 21 April, although they should have remained at Deolali until called forward by OC, Advance Party.  The Group's role was the defence of Southern India and the Indian coastline from Bengal to Karachi.
