No 26 Maintenance Unit


[Jul 1938 | Jan 1939 | Apr 1939 | May 1939]

This was formed on 10 February 1938 as No 26 Equipment Unit from No 2 ASU at RAF Cardington as a Balloon Repair Depot and was redesignated as No 26 MU before July 1938.

Source - Confidential Air Force List April 1939

It was to  reform at Cowley on 21 September 1939 as a repair depot for types such as the Tiger Moth, Hurricane and Spitfire but on 7 March 1940 it became part of the Civilian Repair Organisation as No 1 Civilian Repair Unit.
