Air Force Assistants
The Judge Advocate of the Forces, who holds his office under Letters Patent from the Crown, superintends the Administration of Air Force Law in the RAF  He reviews and is the custodian of the proceedings of all Courts-Martial and assists the Secretary of State for Air in the formulation of any advice it may be necessary to give the Sovereign regarding the proceedings of Courts-Martial and is the legal adviser to the Secretary of State for Air on other matters as he may at any time require.

The Judge Advocate General supervises, through his Deputies: -

 (a) the Judicial Department of his office which deals with the review of Courts Martial proceedings, the supply of Judge Advocates at trials and the disposal of general legal questions affecting the Service and

(b) the Air Force Department of his Office which is responsible for the preparation of cases for trial by Court Martial and the provision of prosecutors thereat in appropriate cases

The Judge Advocate General undertakes corresponding duties, with similar departments, in connection with the Army.
