Citation for the award of Member of the Order of the British Empire
"VAUGHAN, Mansel Clifford Morris, F/O (52132, Royal Air Force) - No.54 Wing, Maintenance Command.
This officer has for nearly two years rendered exceptional service whilst employed on “P” staff duties. His efficiency and enthusiasm have set an example that has improved the general administration of the Wing to a very marked degree. Outside normal working hours he has devoted all his spare time to training and lecturing the fluctuating staff of airmen and airwomen with marked success."

Recommendation found in Air 2/8959, for an MBE intended for New Years Honours List (1 January 1944) when he was still a Pilot Officer.
"This officer has been employed as warrant officer on administrative duties from June 1942 until receiving a commission on June 24th, 1943. His work has been exceptional during this period and he was directly responsible for raising the general level of the administration among the eight Motor Transport Companies from a chaotic condition to a reasonable standard. Outside his normal hours of work he has devoted his spare time to lecturing and training the airmen and airwomen of the Headquarters unit with marked success."
