Citation for the award of Officer of the Order of the British Empire
"LE DIEU, Ernest Laurence Geoffrey, Wing Commander (21178, Royal Air Force) – Mediterranean and Middle East Headquarters
For three years prior to the war, he was in charge of the Accountant Officers Courses, and Lecturer on Accounts at RAF College, Cranwell. He was later appointed to the staff of the Commander Account Headquarters, Bomber Command. In December 1944, he was made Deputy Base Accountant Officer at El Cedida and in March 1946 was appointed to the staff of the Command Headquarters. In all these appointments, he has done excellent work exercising very successfully his powers of organization and control of staff. He has a great capacity for hard work and takes an active interest in the welfare of all personnel serving with him."
