On
the night of 23/24 October 1942, he flew with Wg Cdr S B Bintley, OC – No 102
Squadron, on a raid to Genova in Halifax II, DT512. On their return they were diverted to Holme-on-Spalding Moor,
and having just touched down were
run into by another Halifax of the same unit, W1181.
No-one in the second aircraft was injured but Wg Cdr Bintley and Fg Off A
J Graham RCAF were killed in DT512 with two other crew members being injured,
although Gp Capt Corbally was not one of them.
