II Brigade

This was formed at 13 Albemarle Street, Piccadilly, London W on 23 October 1915 but was redesignated VI Brigade on 15 January 1916.

V Brigade

This was formed in the UK on 15 December 1915 with 4th Wing and 8th Wing but was absorbed into VI Brigade on 9 March 1916.

VI Brigade

This was formed at 13 Albemarle Street, Piccadilly, London W on 15 January 1916 by renaming II Brigade, moving to Adastral House, Victoria Embankment, London SW on 11 June, where it was redesignated Training Brigade on 20 July 1916

It reformed as 6th (Home Defence) Brigade at Adastral House, Victoria Embankment, London on 12 October 1917 by renaming Home Defence Brigade.  It controlled  Nos 37, 39, 43, 50, 51, 61, 75 and 141 Squadrons and on 20 October moved to Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall, London SW, where it was re-organised with the formation of the 46th to 50th Wings, with 53rd Wing being added on 8 February 1918.  Following the formation of the RAF on 1 April 1918, it was divided into Northern Group (46th & 48th Wings) and Southern Group (47th, 49th, 50th & 53rd Wings) on 1 June and was redesignated Home Defence Wing on 9 July 1919.

Home Defence Brigade

This was formed at Adastral House, Victoria Embankment, London on 15 August 1917 by renaming Home Defence Group and was redesignated VI Brigade on 12 October 1917.

Training Brigade

This was formed at 13 Albemarle, Picadilly, London W on 20 July 1916 by renaming VI Brigade and it was raised to Training Division on 5 August 1917

Northern Training Brigade

This was formed at 134 The Mount, York on 5 August 1917 from Northern Group Command within Training Division to control the 8th, 19th and 46th Wings.  It was redesignated No 16 Group on 1 April 1918.

Eastern Training Brigade

This was formed at 20 Duke Street, St James, London on 5 August 1917 from Eastern Group Command within Training Division to control the 24th and 27th Wings.  It was absorbed into No 12 Group on 1 April 1918.

Southern Training Brigade

This was formed at 'Rokeby', Waine-a-Long Road, Salisbury on 5 August 1917 from Southern Group Command within Training Division to control the 4th, 7th, 18th, 21st and 33rd Wings.  It was redesignated No 7 Group on 1 April 1918.
