16 Nov 1944 No 688 Squadron was formed, probably at Basal, before moving to Calcutta on 28 and 30 January 1945, but the squadron records only begin in February 1945

 1 Feb 1945 Half of the squadron was at Calcutta whilst the other half was en-route to Calcutta from Basal
 2 Feb 1945 First half of squadron entrained at Calcutta en-route to RAF Lagaghat

Second half of squadron arrived in Calcutta from Basal

 3 Feb 1945 Both halves of squadron en-route to RAF Lagaghat
