20 Oct 1943 No 524 Squadron was formed at RAF Oban to operate Martin Mariner flying boats

6 x complete crews arrived on posting

25 Nov 1943 First Mariner arrived on delivery
November 1943

13 Dec 1943 Squadron informed that it was officially disbanded, wef 7 Dec 1943
20 Dec 1943 Squadron advised to cease all instructional flying on Mariner aircraft
January 1944
 6 Jan 1944 1 x complete detached to No 57 MU for ferrying duties for three weeks
15 Jan 1943 All Radar Mechanics were posted to other units in No 15 Group

Remainder of ground personnel disposed of by HQ Coastal Command through Officer i/c Records

29 Jan 1944 Remaining aircrews posted to RAF Oban, No 302 FTU and No 131 OTU

Two Mariners departed in the middle of January 1944 with the final two were flown away at the end of the month
