* Responsibility for the defence of the region was temporarily transferred to the War Office on 15 September 1936 when a GOC was appointed. The AOC is directly responsible to the GOC for the general conduct of operations by all units in the command. For the administration and training of the RAF units in his command he comes under the AOC, RAF Middle East.
