He was serving at RAF Scampton and was killed when Hampden, X2964 of No 83 Sqn crashed into his Nissen hut at Scampton as it took off for a raid on Lorient, he is buried in Edinburgh (Piershill) Cemetery.

He was serving at RAF Catterick when he died from wounds sustained in a bombing raid on Woolwich, London, probably whilst on leave, and he is buried in Eltham Cemetery, London.
