Qualifying as a Solicitor in 1901, he joined the firm
of Mather and Platt Ltd., (Engineers in London and Manchester), and by the
outbreak of war was the Administrative Director, remaining as
such until 1925. He was
commissioned into the RFC in 1915 (as an Equipment Officer).
He later held positions with a number of firms, Independent Sprinklers
Ltd (Chairman), Projectile and Engineering Co. Ltd. (Director) and Pulseometer
Engineering Co Ltd (Director).
