30 Jan 1981:    Commander, Northern Maritime Air Region/AOC, Scotland and Northern Ireland

He graduated from Cranwell and was commissioned into the Secretarial Branch.  However, in 1952 he transferred to General Duties and qualified as a pilot.  Retired at his own request.
